We only use energy that nature bestows on us. VAS systems are environmentally friendly and sustainable by using renewable energy, giving you peace of mind. Products such as bark, woodchips, sawdust and waste wood are CO2-neutral fuels and therefore reduce not only our dependence on fossil fuels and in turn, minimise the greenhouse effect, but are also cost-effective. We operate responsibly to help protect the environment for you and future generations.

Our company

Here at VAS Energy Systems Gesellschaft mbH, we plan, build and maintain systems for heating and power systems in the region of 2 MW to 25 MW for private, industrial and public customers.

Since it was founded in 1991, the company has continuously perfected its expertise in biomass energy generation. We put customer needs first when planning individual systems. Each project incorporates the experience gained from previous installations. We deliver complete systems and are therefore your one-stop point of contact.

Currently, we build arround 4-8 CHP (heating and/or electricity) plants per year, which are installed and commissioned around the world. The vast number of projects under construction point to a major growth in this well-established company, Furthermore, we use the most efficient tried and tested technology.

Our services, products and research

VAS has always pursued pioneering innovations. At the moment, we are focused on developing more efficient low-output systems to generate electricity at low production costs. Our systems based on ORC technology (organic rankine cycle systems) currently achieve 18% efficiency. The new high-performance steam boilers are expected to deliver significantly higher efficiency and are therefore particularly cost-effective and conserve resources, reducing emissions. Our team, international researchers and partners bring their know-how to the field of plant construction at our planning-stage pilot system and adjoining research and production facilities. Even in the planning stage, our innovative technology has already met with great interest from customers.

Clear air thanks to clean technology

Dwindling fossil fuels and the dangers of climate change are behind the challenge to find alternative energy sources for electricity generation. We therefore need to pursue low emissions to tackle these issues. Our systems keep local emissions as low as possible.

Combustion technology with special system controls

Combustion technology is at the very core of every system. Before manufacturing the components, VAS accurately assesses the needs of each customer and uses this information to develop tailored systems and reliable solutions.

Unbeatable cost-effectiveness thanks to intelligent control technology

As with all our products, when it comes to combustion technology, we only use the best quality materials in line the current state of the art. To be precise, this involves a step-grate furnace, which is suitable for use with a large range of fuels because the fuel residence times and the combustion air flow can be adapted to suit many features of each fuel type. This is possible thanks to a system control unit with intelligent control technology that is designed specifically with this in mind.

Flue gas cleaning in three stages

VAS is developing by gradually expanding the necessary systems technology, starting with flue gas cleaning. It is only by reviewing the entire system that we can prevent pollutants escaping from the furnace and also ensure efficient flue gas cleaning, which are both very beneficial.

VAS is therefore a technology leader and guarantees the following:

• Full compliance with challenging emission targets
• Lowest possible operating costs for flue gas cleaning
• Heat recovery of up to 28% of boiler rated capacity by using condensation technology
• Complete elimination of flue gas plume up to an external temperature of -20°C in highly sensitive locations
• Noise prevention
• Low maintenance costs thanks to VAS electrostatic filters combined with VAS condensation technology

Installation and service

We use highly-specialised and certified partner companies to manufacture our systems to the highest possible quality. Experienced specialist carry out the installation, pipe work, electrical connections, refractory lining and commissioning of our systems. Upon handover, the technician team at VAS Services GmbH is responsible for providing after-sales operating support tailored to your needs, including: checks, maintenance, cleaning and installation, as well as providing replacement parts where necessary. An individually tailored maintenance package is carefully agreed with our customers.
